The year in review · 2025

Most active Yale club in the world.

Over 130 activities across the year — more, we believe, than any other Yale club anywhere. Not because a committee planned them, but because a whole community volunteered them.

The year

Sleepless Moon
The year's centrepiece: a Chinese-Western fusion opera produced by Eddie Tam and Lora Chow, who met after a Club event and made something nobody had planned for.
Yale-China and New Asia College at seventy
Andrew Junker led the Club's part in the seventieth anniversary of the partnership between Yale-China and New Asia College — one of the longest-running links between Yale and Hong Kong.
A year of Yale visitors
The Deans of the Schools of Music and Nursing, Professors Helen Siu and Marcia Inhorn, music professor Michael Friedman, Yale's Director of Squash, and a Nobel laureate in economics.
Art, from Sotheby's to Shenzhen
Private viewings of the Ise Collection and the Piprahwa Gems, White Cube's Howardena Pindell exhibition, the Art Museum at CUHK, Fine Art Asia, a cross-border trip to Shenzhen's museums, a member's own medieval European collection, and a Japanese tea ceremony.
Out of doors
Tsing Ma Bridge and Sunset Peak with the hiking committee, a bike trip along the harbour that began as two members going anyway, MIT Sports Day, and the Hong Kong Tennis Open as guests of Johns Hopkins.
Service
The annual tree planting on Lantau, and a new programme of exercise sessions with elderly residents.
Henry Steiner at ninety-one
The Club marked the birthday of its longest-serving friend and advisor.
